ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
The College of Law invites applications for the full-time faculty position of Assistant Professor. Candidates should have an outstanding record in research in any of the following areas: commercial law, intellectual property law, civil procedure, legal drafting, and legal research methods. The successful candidate is expected to develop an internationally-recognized research program in their area of expertise and teach HBKU Law students.

HBKU Law works within a collaborative environment with partner universities within Qatar Foundation (e.g., Georgetown University in Qatar and Weill-Cornell Medicine in Qatar) and other institutions, such as the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre, the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Ph.D./S.J.D./D.Phil./or J.D. from an accredited university.
- Two to five years of experience in research, higher education, or closely related areas (additional experience may be required to show equivalency) as appropriate for the rank and subject matter of expertise, with evidence of increasing professional maturity and productivity.
- Evidence of participation in the scholarly and academic affairs of a university or other appropriate organization, or in an appropriate professional society or organization.
- Research and scholarly achievements judged competent and adequate for the rank considered for in comparison with peers.
- Evidence of an increasing regional and international reputation in the scholarly discipline.
- Ability to work with diverse groups, cultures, and communities.
- Evidence of significant national, regional, and international networks and collaborations in both teaching and research activities.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
