About the role
We are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Qatar Aviation Services Cargo Management team in Doha as Manager Hub Operations Control.
This role is based in Doha and will be responsible for supporting the head of department through the management of the hub Operations Control Center, demonstrating strategic leadership to short, mid and long term projects in compliance with corporate and industry regulatory standards. This manager is responsible to lead and manage the hub operations, providing steering and statistics for daily operational activities within the QAS Cargo campus. In addition, this manager ensures continuous business excellence in all processes for hub operations to achieve world leading air cargo handling practices.
Key accountabilities:
  • Provide leadership team with the identification and development of strategic plans to improve daily operational performance and position QAS Cargo as an innovative, best practice ground handling organization.
  • Plan and adapt the operational implementation based on in-depth analysis and real-time environment.
  • Develop QAS Cargo’s hub operational control department to effectively forecast and plan, with the ability to identify risks, opportunities and solutions to align and support business objectives.
  • Analyse and understand resource management strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to utilize equipment and manpower effectively to support daily volume fluctuations.
  • Ensuring QAS Cargo hub operation control activities uphold a professional, safe and satisfactory service for QR and all other airlines.
  • Implement best practice daily resource management through accurate and detailed planning to deliver operational excellence.
  • Liaise and collaborate with Integrated Operations Control, QAS Operations Control and HIA Operation Control to make decisions based on facts and analysis for contingency and coordinate recovery plans for disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies and procedures.
  • Conduct and lead the daily operational briefing to QAS Cargo Leadership team to provide updates on operational activities and forecast short-term trends.
  • Define and establish objectives, competencies and training requirements to ensure a motivated team with high standards in professionalism to support business objectives.
  • Train and develop other employees to ensure succession planning is in place.

About you
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing a large operational team.
  • Strong knowledge of Airline Ground Handling and Freighter Operations.
  • Expertise in IATA cargo handling procedures and regulations.
  • Customer service orientation with a cost conscious culture.
  • Experience in deploying continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean and Six Sigma)
  • Experience in managing a large multi-diverse team.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to analyse data.
  • You will be a confident and energetic communicator with strong Leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly demanding, agile and multicultural environment.
  • Hands on mentality with an ability to delegate work as well as foster teamwork.
