The Tier-2 Senior Process Engineers are the Field Operations process engineering authority for all facilities and the point of reference to the wider organization for the current installation. Incumbents leverage experience to provide key technical insights on all systems. Key accountabilities include:
Maintain a high-level overview of the health of processing systems to identify existing and emerging constraints.
Advise Offshore Operations on how to most efficiently operate the facilities to maximize oil revenue within the primary constraints of safety and environmental responsibility.
Provide a focal point of support into the OC, beyond the day-to-day, to ensure production is optimized based on available well stock and equipment constraints.
Support the NOC-OC for requests requiring advanced engineering expertise. Act as the point of triage for directing longer term studies to Tier-3.
Identify issues that require further definition through dedicated study within PWP Tier-3. Scope study basis, objectives and required outcomes and set priorities.
Provide process engineering insight and support to resolve operational risks as they present.
Tier-2 engineers are also the first port of call for the following departments, with spillover to Tier-3 if required: M&I, CPD, Major Projects (Ops).
JOB DIMENSIONS
The Tier-2 Engineer provides guidance to tactical decisions taken daily in the OC. The Tier-2 Engineer is extensively involved in real-time evaluation of facilities health and finding operational solutions to maximize production. Tier-2 Engineer is further required to liaise with numerous departments within FOPS and the overall NOC Company. Supporting the development of inter-department relationships and awareness is a large part of the role.

Drive incident free environment through maintaining a strong safety culture.
Contribute to field asset integrity by reporting any anomaly observed in the daily links with offshore.
Ensure that the facilities are operated within their agreed operating envelopes.
Activities
Continuously conduct high level health monitoring of processing systems and identify system constraints as well as immediate and emerging issues through independent analysis and participation in the daily and weekly OC-Offshore meetings.
Undertake activities, such as systematic equipment test runs, to find the root cause of operating limits or alternative operating modes to maximize production. Manage the interface between various NOC engineering groups and Operations for such tests. Propose short term solutions to Operations Management and monitor implementation and close-out.
Advise Operations how to most efficiently operate the facilities to maximize oil revenue within the primary constraints of safety and environmental responsibility. Provide front-line Process Engineering support to Operations for requests requiring advanced engineering expertise. Work effectively with Offshore, Onshore Operating Centre, Maintenance and support functions.
Maintain the list of process engineering formulated campaign and shutdown scopes, ensure that these are presented at the appropriate forums and planned into the correct activities to minimize the impact on production (constraints and implementation losses).
As per their JD – Tier 1 will prepare ad-hoc procedures for unexpected works. Tier-2 may be required to add insight to any issues to be considered within such procedures.
Identify which support items above require further definition through dedicated study within PWP Tier-3. Scope study basis, objectives and required outcomes and set priorities. Follow up on study progress to ensure timely resolution of scope. Support Tier-3 through the study as needed.
Develop conceptual solutions for longer term and structural constraints that have been identified above. Either initiate opportunities through PEX or hand over to Tier-3 Process Engineering for further development, if required, before initiation of the opportunity. Initiating engineer (Tier-2 or Tier-3) will lead the technical proposal to the end of the initiate phase (FOPS pre-decision). Tier-2 will provide support to the Tier-3 Process Engineer through the Assess phase.
Contribute to requests for modification and preparation of SORs for new opportunities for modification, led by Tier-3.
Together with Tier-3, represent Field Operations in CPD and Major Project reviews to ensure fit for purpose future developments are delivered to Operations.
Contribute to the team organizational aspect, including meeting rhythm (Daily, Weekly, Monthly), reporting scheme, tasks sharing, personnel matters and work efficiency. Coach and support Process and Graduate Process Engineers to enhance systems understanding and build organizational capabilities.
Undertake ad hoc offshore visits (if needed) to investigate and identify root causes for operational issues or process constraints.
Undergo crisis response training and assist during emergency response situations as required.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
Head Count position within the NOC Joint Venture.
The role is based onshore on a residential basis – notionally working a 5 day week.
Works within the Operations Centre and is the first line of support on non-repetitive / real time activities.
Visits to offshore locations may be required on an ad-hoc basis
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Qualifications
Professional industry body accredited Process Engineering degree (e.g. IChemE, AIChE) or similar. Eligible for professional body registration.
Experience
Senior Process Engineering position with proven ability to translate the technical matters of the operation into practicable / fit for purpose applications.
Operations: 10+ years operational experience in production environment.
Sufficient exposure to production or process engineering and an understanding of site production operation. Good understanding of process design of offshore topside facilities.
Behavioral
