VCUarts Qatar Adjunct Faculty Jobs in Qatar 2023 Full Job Descripation
The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Arts Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) is recruiting for the Fall 2023 semester within the Fashion Design program. The program is specifically looking for instructors to teach a Fashion Journalism course as outlined below:
This course will introduce students to fashion journalism to enable students with a passion for both storytelling and fashion to combine their interests and learn the skills necessary to succeed in this competitive industry. Through the course, students will gain proficiency in reporting on fashion across different media platforms, and learn how to spot fashion trends, research concepts, interview sources, analyze markets and target their writing for specific audiences.
Duties include:
1. Teaching courses as needed.
2. Hold one office per week per course taught.
3. Grade all assignments and exams in a timely manner.
4. Submit grades according to school policy.
5. Use VCU email for all VCU work related responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
• A graduate degree in a field related to the course(s) one would teach.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm towards teaching and interacting within a multicultural environment as an adjunct faculty member at VCUarts Qatar.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as an adjunct faculty member at VCUarts Qatar.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 3-5 years of experience teaching undergraduate courses in higher education.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in one or several of the following areas of expertise:
Ability to teach all levels (upper-division and lower-division) of undergraduate courses.
• Instructional Design
Demonstrate ability to deliver a variety of instructional methods including the use
of demonstrations and specific project assignments.
Demonstrate ability to use technology and electronic information to deliver
course materials to students.
Demonstrate ability to be responsive to industry changes and/or practices
including technology
• Learning Enrichment
and knowledge.
Demonstrate conceptual development, collection/line building through standard
technical and conceptual skill sets for apparel prototype making/creation.
Demonstrate ability to synthesize and move readily between conceptual and
established hands-on methodologies in the design development process.
Possess the ability to inspire and encourage curiosity and creativity.
Demonstrate ability to create learning experiences that foster critical thinking,
problem solving and informed design skills.
Utilize professional knowledge and experience to foster collaboration and
teamwork in the classroom.
• Experience teaching courses in Qatar, the Arab Gulf, or the Middle East.
